"What Is...?" Wednesday

World Tarot Day

The 25th of May is rapidly approaching, did you know that it's also World Tarot Day? World Tarot Day was created in 2003 by CTGM Den Elders. It is supported by many major Tarot organizations, individuals, and websites across the globe.

The purpose of this day is:

"To promote the use of the Tarot tool across all human made
borders, be they political boundaries, misunderstandings of the
mind, or ignorance of the tool itself, for the benefit and growth
of the Spiritual Self."

I know Tarot has enriched my life more than I can say and I love to share my knowledge with others, who know's, maybe I can inspire others to appreciate it as well. So, on the 25th, I will be blogging about different decks and how some readers use various decks for different types of readings...tune in! Stop by World tarot Day's website and enrich your life!

Tarot Tuesday

The Ace of Cups

Keywords for the Ace of Cups can include: faithfulness, fertility, joy, love.  The commencement of creative or artistic projects.  All the positive powers of the unconscious mind. In timing, the Ace of Cups indicate summer and aces symbolize beginnings.

In this card we can see an open hand as if offering up a gift and the cloud lets us know that it's a divine gift.. the white dove shows us that the gift is pure. The pond indicates the unconscious mind and the five waterfalls reflect the five senses. The lilies are our inner emotions that are developing with the assistance of the water around them.

When the Ace of Cups turns up in readings, it inspires us with confidence and happiness. If it appears in a daily draw situation, it can indicate the start of a loving relationship of either the romantic or friendship type, it can represent the beginning of a project in which a great deal of loving energy is involved or sometimes it can reveal the beginning of a new life.

In a tarot reading where the Ace of Cups is reversed... it indicates that the emotions have been damaged, that the heart is blocked and that the individual in question may have difficulties connecting to other people. In other words, what might be called "A broken heart." In this case the Ace speaks to us of opening our heart and allow the divine healing energy to fill us up again.

Tarot Tuesday

The Lovers

In the original Italian tarot tradition, this card was always called Love and never "The Lovers."  In the Cary Yale Visconti deck, the picture on this card shows a couple with Cupid above them, possibly portraying a royal wedding.  Love implies there is a pattern of growth and maturity. Love can be an emotion that causes you to make choices that you often can't understand...This is what the Lovers signify...  something or someone who is very much like yourself, so perfect for you , that resistance is nearly impossible.

In a reading, the Lovers indicates that you have come across or soon will come across a person, job, or something that you will fall in love with. It will feel like you know instinctively that you must have this, to the point that you take a different direction than the one you had been on, even if there appears to be obstacles to surmount.

This card represents perfection, harmony and mutual attractiveness. The couple we see on the Lovers card trust in one another and this gives them the strength as well as the confidence they will need to overcome any obstacles that may emerge.

Also, the Lovers can symbolize a problem to solve or hard choice to make and requires an action or decision.  Something is going to change your present plans or direction, and although it may appear negative at first, you will later discover it to be a blessing in disguise.

My Ten Things...

I was listening to Ariel's new podcast on iTunes last night and the topic was gratitude. What a fantastic podcast, as I listened I began to realize when you sit down and simply list ten things that you are greatful for, your focus begins to shift and it becomes easier to actually change the direction and tone of your emotions. You become more positive, more grounded and able to focus on the things that really matter. Every day we run into situations that cause us to drag and dim our energy and just by listing the things that are blessings in our life takes that weight, that heaviness from our shoulders and causes us to be a more positive, productive person. I made a list of ten things I'm greatful for in my life and when I was finished I felt so energized, so positive! My aura felt clean and refreshed and I was more able to charge forth into my hectic day.

My Ten Things:

1.) My children.

2.) My health.

3.) My friends.

4.) The fresh air in my lungs when I walk outside.

5.) The feel of grass under my bare feet.

6.) My freedom to express my spirituality.

7.) My cats

8.) My electric blankie (yes, I did just say that...)

9.) The hard knocks in my past that made me who I am today.

10.) My ability to love and laugh loudly.

Food For Thought

Many years ago, my mother and I would endlessly butt heads about really silly things and over time, became estranged. For a long time I was so resentful before I realized that I could never be someone I was not just to appease my mother, I could only be myself and after many hard lessons, have become very comfortable in my own skin...blessed be the god and goddess for this revelation!

Anyhow...last week my mother made a rare pilgrimage from where she lives to our little neck of the woods in order to have lunch with my second eldest daughter Caitlin and drop off Christmas presents that she could not deliver due to our inclement weather as of late. At the lunch gathering my mother made small talk for a while and then suddenly inquired as to the welfare of my youngest two children Conor (9) and Meaghan (8) and myself.I was a bit surprised to say the least and Caitlin (bless her generous heart) told my mother that they were doing exceptionally well and I was very happy and doing fine too.

Caitlin then told my mother how beautiful Meaghan was growing up to be and out of my mother's mouth popped the remark " Your mother is very beautiful too" When Caitlin repeated this to me my jaw nearly detatched from my face and my eyes began tearing up.

Suddenly I became that shy little girl who would have done anything to hear those words from her mom and

I wasn't quite sure how to handle it! It took me so long to accept myself and become comfortable in my own skin and would have given away EVERY teddy bear I owned (and that was A LOT!) to hear those words long, long ago.
I guess my whole point is for every parent to know just how important it is to let your children know EVERY DAY that no matter what they do or who they become, they will always be acceptable and loved...
