School starts this coming Wednesday and I don't think I could be more relieved! It's been a very long and stress filled summer with all the "There's nothing to do's...." So and so took my thing...." and my personal favorite "But I don't want to...." I figured that since the kids will be going to school I would stretch my brain a little too and look into the subject of Quantum Physics. Oooo, brain cramp coming on!
I watch a lot of educational shows and happened accidentally upon one program that discussed this theory. It got my attention and I thought I would explore this a bit more since I like to approach my spirituality with a little solid science. I've been noticing that science has led to a lot of validation in the pagan/wiccan world because it is our belief that everything is indeed connected.
My view can be summed up in this way: Everything is sacred and alive (that is shares the spark of conciousness or intelligence) and each part of the universe can communicate with each other part. For example, if a particle in one part of the universe vibrates up and down...somewhere else in the universe another particle begins to vibrate as well but in the opposite direction. That to me alone says there is proof that all are connected.
This theory that two particles coming in contact with each other and continue to affect one another even when separated is called "Bell's Theorum." Bell thought that when two particles come in contact with each other, they leave a bit of themselves with each other and are not affected by nuclear forces, gravity or electromagnetism but the contact that the particles had at one time. Hmmm, makes you wanna scratch your head, doesn't it?
This is just a milifraction ( Probably not a real word but it works for me) of the quantum physics topic but I'm going to stop here because later on down the line it's necessary to include calculus and formulas which truly will make my head spin! I hope you found this interesting, at the bottom of this post I have listed a few books on this subject if you want to explore these ideas further.

Tarot Tuesday

The Luman Dreaming In Color deck is not a "traditional" tarot or oracle deck but extremely beautiful and surprisingly accurate. Luman is a combination of the words "light" (lumen) and "angel" (angelus) and uses special visual stimulation with color being it's key to unlock the subconscious mind. This deck is designed to aid in ones intuitive capabilities as well as help release negative thought patterns through meditation

The card that I had my good friend choose is called "Sacrifice," at first glance the connotations of this word can be pretty negative but after looking closer at it one is able to see a deeper, richer meaning. The message of Sacrifice is a message that is delivered straight from the Universe... it tells us of giving, with no expectations of reward or acknowledgement of that giving. In order to accomplish this we must have empathy, for without it, we cannot feel the pain and need of others.
It has always been my firm belief and practice that giving is something that is simply "the right thing to do" and has benefits that far out weigh any material rewards I may or may not glean from this experience. If I have resources that can make circumstances a little less dark for someone I will not hesitate to help. We are all connected in this world and when one suffers, we all suffer. Empathy is the feeling of joy that comes from within when you give to those in need ( time, resources, a good ear to listen with or maybe just a simple hug or kiss to say I care) and see the burden lift from their shoulders...it brings relief, compassion and most importantly...hope.
Let us all put ourselves in someone else's shoes and feel that empathy, share a little bit of ourselves with others and thank the Universe for the great gift of humanity.

Something To Believe In

I listened to Ariel's podcast last night and wow...what a great podcast! (of course they're all terrific as well as powerful.) Anyhow, one exercise he spoke of in his podcast on "Building your power base- the Water Body" was to take note of where we are placing our faith, in other words, what do we believe in? What a powerful question..."What do I believe in?" I'm not sure that I've ever paid attention to what I actually do believe in until confronted with a situation that is contrary or challenging to those beliefs. Just where does my faith lie... what are the places that I put my faith in daily, without even realizing it...where does that foundation of faith stem from? My head is spinning just trying to think of my beliefs...so, here it goes...
What I believe in:
~ The sun will rise every day and set each evening
~ There is always an answer, always a solution and always a choice to be made in every struggle
~No matter how dark life can get, there is hope...light at the end of the tunnel
~ The Universal Intelligence ( God, higher power, goddess, god) is around me all the time, present in all living things
~ No matter how long it seems to take....truth has no other option but to surface
~ Children are a privilege not a right
~ All living things deserve respect and compassion...yes, even people too
~ There is wisdom to gain from our elders
~ Most animals make better people than some people do
~ Say "I love you" to your loved ones as often as you can
These are just a few of the things that I believe in...what does that say about my faith? I think it simply reassures me that the path I walk... this journey I take, is the correct one for me. What are some things that you believe in...what foundation does your faith spring from?
P.S.- You can find Ariel's podcasts "The Witches Primer" on iTunes podcasts, I encourage you to listen.

Open Minds

The Akashic Records refer to the frequency grid programs that create our reality. The Akashic records (Akasha is a Sanskrit word meaning "sky", "space" or "aether") together are a collection of mystical knowledge that is encoded in the aether; i.e. on a non-physical plane of existence. The concept is prevalent in new age thought. and is understood to have existed since the beginning of creation (some even say before). Just as we have various specialty libraries ( medical and law), there are said to exist various Akashic Records ( animal, plant, mineral, etc) encoding Universal lore. Most writings refer to the Akashic Records in the area of human experience but it is understood that all phenomenal experience as well as transcendental knowledge is encoded therein.
The Akasha is said to be the library of all events and responses concerning consciousness in all realities. Every life form therefore contributes and has access to the Akashic Records. It is asserted that to gain access into the Akashic Records, every individual human can become the physical medium, and various techniques and spiritual disciplines ( yogic, pranayama, meditation, prayer, visualization) can be employed to quiet the mind, become a "witness" and achieve the focused, pre-conscious state necessary to access the Records.
I'm not quite sure about many of the theories that abound but I do know there is something else beyond our physical world. I do believe that energy cannot be destroyed nor does it dissipate once our physical bodies cease. Science has proved that this energy exists in us as does it in all natural, living things. Let me hypothesize for a moment...Just what if we do go on long after this world... what if a select few can tap into this energy or Akashic record? The possibilities can boggle the mind and all I ask is for you to consider is... "What if?"
