The Yule log is a central part of Yule festivities. The log is kindled from the remains of the previous year's Yule fire. This piece was kept in the home throughout the year for protection . . The Yule log symbolizes the light returning to conquer the darkness. According to tradition, the log must either have been harvested from the householder's land, or given as a gift... it must never have been bought. Once dragged into the house and placed in the fireplace it was decorated in seasonal greenery, doused with cider or ale, and dusted with flour before set ablaze . The log would burn throughout the night, then smolder for 12 days after before being ceremonially put out.
A different type of Yule log, and perhaps one more suitable for modern practitioners would be the type that is used as a base to hold three candles. Find a smaller branch of oak or pine, and flatten one side so it sets upright. Drill three holes in the top side to hold red, green, and white (season), green, gold, and black (the Sun God), or white, red, and black (the Great Goddess). Continue to decorate with greenery, red and gold bows, rosebuds, cloves, and dust with flour.
Once, the Yule log had been the center of the celebration.
There are many traditional ways to collect your log; Some collect a log at Beltane and dry out till Yule. Others use the thickest part of the Yule tree trunk to save till it becomes next years Yule log. Still others will make a ritual of trekking into the woods at yuletide and dragging their Yule log home.
My List:
1.) My kids
2.) My pets
3.) Terrific friends
4.) Twinkling lights
5.) The Yule log
6.) Hot chocolate
7.) Crisp mornings
8.) Chocolate chip cookies
9.) Holiday movies
10.) Honey roasted peanuts

Manifesting Monday
Casting a spell is a more involved way to manifest your desires. For some, spells are the best way to manifest and spells written by them are very personal and in some cases more effective. The ritual of preparing for and casting a spell helps focus the energy and the intent of the person doing the spell is also very important. When the person has written the spell and finished the preparations, then it is time to cast the spell.
What is it that you would like to manifest in your life? One fantastic way that I have found to manifest what I need in my life is to do things for others rather than focus simply on myself, not out of the hope that the law of attraction will take effect but because it's the right thing to do. I think that by helping others, you begin to shift your focus and realizing your wishes comes along so much easier.
It seems to me that too much focus on what you need or want and your intention does not have a chance to go out into the universe and become realized. You must let it go and know that the universal mind knows what is for your highest good.

Waning Moon Release Ritual
This spell is designed to help release the stresses and worries of our day to day lives. Though best done during a waning moon phase, feel free to perform it anytime you feel blocked, sad, fearful, negative, angry or bitter.(Make sure your phone is turned off and you won't be disturbed.)
You will need:
2 white altar candles
1 black candle
1 pink candle
Sage, frankincense or myrrh incense (for clearing)
Many small pieces of paper & a pen
RITUAL BATH: add salt to the water or tie the following herbs in a small piece of cloth: hyssop, lavender and rosemary. Run under faucet.
As you inhale the aroma of the steaming herbs, visualize the steam breaking up any tension in your body, and exhale. Ask your body and spirit to release any thoughtforms that are not in accordance with your highest potential, and be willing to look at where you might be harboring doubt, suspicion, or fear.
With each inhale, affirm that you are breathing in the healing energies of the Universe, and that you can transform yourself through meditation, patience and faith.
With each exhale, affirm that the outmoded thoughtforms are transformed into new energy that can be utilized for growth. energy is neutral, so it is up to us to redirect it.
Light your white altar candles and incense. They are symbolic of peace, truth and protection. Meditate for a few minutes on what that means to you personally. Is there anything in your life now that is not in sync with your personal truth?
Light the black candle. The color black is an absence of color, and therefore absorbs... the black candle will represent the absorbing/transforming power of the dark moon, and as we work with it, imagine the pain or anger being pulled out of you and absorbed and transformed by the energy that is symbolized by the black candle.
Take a small piece of paper (and write with as much emotion that you can muster) one thing you want to release / transform.
Light one corner of the paper, and immediately drop it into a flameproof / heatproof dish (a large ashtray or a ceramic pot with some soil on the bottom would be ideal).
Repeat with any and all emotions, fears, resentments, gripes, angers, resentments, excuses, obligations, etc. etc. etc.
Until you feel CLEAR! If you still feel bad, keep going for a while!
When you've cried, griped etc as much as you can stand, put out the black candle.
Light the pink candle. Put on your favorite music: something that makes you feel energized, happy and motivated! Now you need to focus on filling up the spaces left wher the old pain was! Time to fill it in with the affirmations of your choice...
Always write affirmations in the present tense! Keep repeating them over and over until you feel great! Breathe in your new truth.
When you are finished, put out the pink candle, and save it and the black candle until the next time you do this exercise. For maximum effect or serious depression or apathy, do this spell 3 days in a row (finishing on New Moon day).

A Blessing For My Tea

When I have a pot of tea, especially when I feel like I need to recharge my magical batteries so to speak, I like to light a few candles, some incense and soothing music and use this blessing......
BLESSING OF HERBS
With the tip of your athame touching the Herbs, intone this blessing:
Thou has grown by favor of the Sun,
The Moon, and of the dew.
I make this intercession, ye herb:
I beseech thee to be of benefit to me and my rite,
For thy virtues are unfailing.
Thou art the Dew of all the Gods,
The Eye of the Sun,
The Light of the Moon,
The Beauty and Glory of the Sky,
The Mystery of Terra.
I purify thee so that whatever is wrought by me with thee may,
In all its powers,
Have a good and speedy effect with good success.
Be purified by my prayer and be powerful!
So mote it be!
When water is hot enough, place the herbs in the Tea Pot and add water from the brewing dish, give it a couple of stirs. While the tea is steeping, intone this Prayer:
Earth Mother
Giver of life
Strengthen me during my life-long strife.
Teach me Your ways of perfect love,
Peace, and wisdom true.
Spawn from my purest heart
These words to You
May this prayer help me to better
Myself in word and deed,
To a higher plane I shall succeed.
Beautiful Light of Goodness Fair
Lore of old we both do share
A Witch's brew, I drink to You
My love for You, by day, by night
In thought and in sight
Will my soul learn
The meaning of this life again.
I thank the goddess and say blessed be, then I sit down and enjoy my fresh brewed nectar.
