Making Your Own Tarot Bag

Tarot card bags are very popular and create a way for you to store your tarot decks with ease. The boxes can then be stored somewhere for safe-keeping. Others like to

store their deck in a bag for the sheer beauty of it. Some even like to have their Tarot card bags certain colors to instill "energy" into their deck or to protect their cards.

What You Will Need:

* Two pieces of fabric 5" x 7" ( this will fit most sized tarot decks)
* Either a needle and thread or your sewing machine.
* A pair of scissors.
* Ribbon or cord in matching color

~Take the two pieces of fabric and place them right sides together, so the wrong sides are outward and carefully pin along the sides and bottom.

~Serge the raw edges. If you don't have a Serger, you can sew a zig-zag stitch along your raw edges.

~At 1/4 inch in, sew the bottom and sides, stopping 1/2 inch from the top on both sides as to make openings for your cord or ribbon..

~Fold down the top edge to 1/2" and press it, as it makes it much easier to stitch together. Starting at one side, carefully sew around the top, making sure to leave a 1/4 width between the pressed edge and the rough edge when you make your stitches.

~Turn the bag right side out and press well. Slide your ribbons or cord through the pocket. I've found it helpful to use a safety pin to help pull the cord or ribbon through the sleeve at the top. Now you're finished! Pull the drawstring to gather the opening closed and tie.

Once you have the basics down and with a little practice, the possibilities are endless. You can sew sequins and beads to the fabric. So fringe around the top edge. Create the fabric with a crazy quilt technique or a simple patchwork style. Use fancy fabrics like silk, velvet or lace. Let your creative muses run free!
