Review- The Alphabet for Lovers

Not long ago, +Orna Ben-Shoshan sent me an email asking if I would like to review her latest creation, The Alphabet for Lovers and of course I replied that I would be thrilled to and anxiously awaited their arrival. You may remember her by her other unique and inspiring works such as The King Solomon Oracle cards; The 72 Names cards and the wonderful Tokens of Light, which I also had the pleasure of reviewing .

I must admit, I was deeply intrigued as I quickly noticed their lovely heart shape! 

The Alphabet for Lovers cards offer advice and prophesy about love and relationships by using the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet. These are 72 cards written according to the knowledge and wisdom contained within this alphabet which is often considered the basic ingredients in which the Universe was created.

In the Tarot world, the use of the Kabbalah, can be found in many decks and it's wisdom often adds the perfect insight when pondering the great mysteries of ourselves and the world around us. 

Each heart shaped card pictures charming and easily understood imagery along with a number from 1-72 and a short key phrase and Hebrew letter that the illustration and number refers to on the reverse side. I found this information to be a treasure trove of spiritual and practical insight to aid in all sorts of questions related to but not exclusive to love and questions that are not particularly romantic such as boss and employee, parent and child and even friends, relatives and business partners.

As with all of Orna's illustrations the characters whimsical and endearing and makes it a joy to read with. I gathered a few friends and family members and told them that I would give them a free reading using the Alphabet for Lovers and all quickly agreed...everyone just loves free readings!...I was actually quite surprised with the results as well, the information and advice were very positive and extremely accurate and with each reading, everyone simply raved about how they loved the heart shape and imagery of the cards.

This little deck of cards is not only fun to read with, it give practical advice and gives insight into the dynamics of any given relationship. I would heartily recommend The Alphabet for Lovers to everyone novice and seasoned reader alike!

The Lovers

When we see this card, we automatically think of love, romance, marriage and a happy future. But it can mean more than that depending on what we are focusing on. It can also mean self love and healing and intimacy but not necessarily sexual. It can also signify a new relationship or that a current relationship is going through a big change. This Deviant Moon's card speaks of  stopping and taking a look at what's going on in your life and take a moment to listen to that inner voice to see with our inner sight.

 The Lovers card does indicate love and passion but there are going to be some choices involved. How you choose will be either very positive or negative but not much in between. Love can bring virtue to one's life... serving love can also bring virtue  but choosing poorly out of lust can wear away at love and virtue. No one said love is easy. 

If in a reading this card is reversed, it could point to an obsessive relationship or fantasy dominating one’s life or pining for past relationships or an unbalanced relationship, making the mistakes... not learning from past and frustration in love or marriage. However, letting go of a relationship that brings no pleasure may allow you to be free to attract new love into your life. This is a risk that could well bring you greater rewards.

Candle Anointing Oil

Recipe for Love Oil


Use : To anoint your candle in love or romance spells.

Simply rub the oil around the candles to increase their potency
and include in love rituals.

Ingredients:

~A base oil.... sunflower, almond, olive etc.

~7 drops Rose oil

~3 Drops Jasmine oil

~3 Drops Patchouli oil

~7 Drops Dragon's Blood resin oil

~3 Red rose petals or rose buds (can be shades of pink)

Wait for the New Moon, then prepare oil to add heightened power
Use a small darkened bottle and add about 1/4 base oil
Add flowers and oils, let them infuse

Flower Moon

This Friday is the full cycle of the moon and is often referred to as the Flower, Planting or Hare Moon. Energies around this moon are ones of health, romance, love and wisdom.

We need to be encouraged to begin to take action on the things we’ve recently been planning whether it be one of the heart, meditation or taking care of one's self.

This full moon is a time when we begin to really notice more light in our lives.... the days are longer... the grass is green (and must be cut more often) and the flowers are starting to bloom. This is a time of playful , light and buoyant energy. Some ways to really celebrate this moon and the energy it brings, is do a fun thing like host a pot-luck with a spring theme or visit your local elementary school and volunteer during art class. If you are looking for something more “magickal”try lighting a green candle and meditate on being thankful for the feeling of renewal and rejuvenation you can feel at this time.

Gems to enhance this moon’s energy include ones like Malachite, Jade, Emerald, Peridot or any other green-hued stones. These gems help enhance the energy of the heart chakra, which governs our compassion, generosity, love and harmony. When I need a boost in any of these areas, I simply slip a green stone into my pocket ( I like a small piece of Jade) or I wear a necklace of green-gemmed jewelry.
