When we see this card we automatically think of love, romance, marriage and a happy future. But it can mean more than that depending on what we are focusing on. It can also mean self love and healing and intimacy but not necessarily sexual. It can also signify a new relationship or that a current relationship is going through a big change. The Lovers card, to me, speaks of stopping and taking a look at what's going on in your life and take a moment to listen to that inner voice to see with our inner sight.
The Lovers does card indicate love and passion are involved but there are going to be some choices involved. How you choose will be either very positive or negative, not much in between. Love can bring virtue to one's life... serving love can bring virtue into one's life but choosing poorly out of lust can wear away love and virtue. No one said love is easy.
If in a reading, this card is reversed, it could point to an obsessive relationship or fantasy dominating one’s life or pining for past relationships or an unbalanced relationship, making the mistakes... not learning from past and frustration in love or marriage. However, letting go of a relationship that brings no pleasure may allow you to be free to attract new love into your life. This is a risk that could well bring you greater love and joy.

Tarot Tuesday
The Lovers
In the original Italian tarot tradition, this card was always called Love and never "The Lovers." In the Cary Yale Visconti deck, the picture on this card shows a couple with Cupid above them, possibly portraying a royal wedding. Love implies there is a pattern of growth and maturity. Love can be an emotion that causes you to make choices that you often can't understand...This is what the Lovers signify... something or someone who is very much like yourself, so perfect for you , that resistance is nearly impossible.
In a reading, the Lovers indicates that you have come across or soon will come across a person, job, or something that you will fall in love with. It will feel like you know instinctively that you must have this, to the point that you take a different direction than the one you had been on, even if there appears to be obstacles to surmount.
This card represents perfection, harmony and mutual attractiveness. The couple we see on the Lovers card trust in one another and this gives them the strength as well as the confidence they will need to overcome any obstacles that may emerge.
Also, the Lovers can symbolize a problem to solve or hard choice to make and requires an action or decision. Something is going to change your present plans or direction, and although it may appear negative at first, you will later discover it to be a blessing in disguise.

Serenity Sunday
When we were children, our parents were the people who made our everyday choices for us...if we were lucky, our parents made wise choices that took into account our safety and well being and helped us grow into mature, well grounded, loving, respectful, law abiding people. When we became adults, we were responsible for our own choices and as a result, the consequences depending on whether they were wise choices or foolish ones. I thank the goddess for this unbelievable freedom that we, in the democratic society are part of, can make our own choices and not have them made for us.How often do we take this great gift for granted...? In many other countries there is not that option and much of what they read, hear or buy is decided by someone else. I ask today that you sit down and truly imagine just what it would mean to you if the choices we are presented with every day were suddenly taken away... How would you react...? What kind of atmosphere would you be living in...? I am grateful that I can decide what kinds of books I like to read, radio stations I like to listen to and which television channels I find interesting.... and the ability to make my voice heard....to think thoughts I choose to think and have the opinions I choose to have.
My List:
1.) My children
2.) My friends
3.) Choices
4.) Pansies
5.) Splashing through puddles
6.) Pumpkins
7.) Pagan/wiccan podcasts
8.) Digital cameras
9.) Soaking in the tub
10.) Scented candles

In Or Out......?
Most folks, who like me, consider themselves wiccan or pagan eventually find themselves seriously pondering the question of whether or not to “come out of the broom closet.” If you have never heard this term, this basically means “coming out” as a pagan or wiccan ....identifying yourself to family, friends and/or neighbors that this is your spirituality. It’s a very personal issue, and people have a number of reasons for choosing not to disclose this information....just as many people choose this to be appropriate for them to declare.
Coming out may not be for everyone, or it may be something you choose to do a bit at a time. When you decide to make your faith known, you are opening yourself up to all the problems that may accompany being recognized as part of a non-mainstream faith. But you do have certain rights particularly in the United States. Arming yourself with knowledge will help you tremendously in protecting those rights.
There are different levels of being “out”. For most of us, simply letting friends and family know about our spirituality is enough. Many people consider religion to be a private thing anyway no matter what religion they may be ... and are perfectly content to limit the number of people in their lives who actually know the details. Plenty more people are of the opinion that if you are asked, tell the truth, but otherwise it is better not to be "in-your-face" about paganism or wicca.
Other folks are more vocal and feel that if you really believe in something, you need to tell everyone and do so with great pride. It is, however, difficult to know just how many choose this path and one of the reasons it’s so hard to get an accurate count of the current pagan and wiccan population is because there are so many people who are simply private about their beliefs. There are some estimates in the United States that suggest that there are anywhere from 200,000 to two million pagans and wiccans in the United States alone.
As paganism and wicca move more towards the mainstream, more and more people are coming out of the broom closet. Some are very vocal while others are more discreet and quiet...and some don’t come out at all simply because they’re concerned about the reactions they’ll receive. I always give the advice that if you feel that your community would be accepting or tolerant of you and wish to proclaim your spirituality as a way of life and not just a fad as some have accused, then by all means, let it be known!

Tarot Shadow Work- Hidden Treasures
I was supposed work on my treasure chest this last week...and once again, I failed miserably so I have decided that the show must go on and I will be talking about the card I chose to "take back my shadow." This is the part of me that I need to recover ownership of once and for all.
I put all the cards into a rather ratty and very undecorated shoe box and as I mixed them up, I wondered just which one would find it's way into my hot little hand. All the cards were important as far as taking them back....I finally grasped one and pulled it out and saw that it was the Tower. Hmmm, how appropriate I thought...the Tower seems to be a symbol of my adult years from at least the age of twenty (on up to today, I pessimistically thought.)
The Tower Shadow qualities are building up false securities around me...sabotaging possibilities of new growth by ridgidly holding onto ideas or attitudes (a whole lot of attitudes in my case)...releasing pent up energy in an angry or destructive way. Wow, how do these cards know me so well?! In my twenties and almost all the way through my thirties, I was nothing but attitude and repressed energy. In my family, showing anger or any other "negative" emotions was highly frowned upon so I pretty much learned to suck it up and walk it off. My mom called it having "A stiff upper lip"
The problem of creating such a volitile Shadow was that I was missing out (for many years), on the Shadow Gifts that the Tower had to offer. Looking back on "the lost years" I see that I could have been breaking down all the unhealthy beliefs I had learned living in an alcoholic home...exersizing my free choice... finding my own inner strength and living my life the way I saw fit rather than choosing to go with what I thought others wanted from me. I'm learning to be happy with who I am, I am strong...I am able to make wise choices based on a firmer grasp of what reality is instead of what I'd like it to be.
It's so easy to get lost on what is really important in life and the Tower should not be looked upon as a terrible, cataclysmic event but the goddess putting us firmly back on track and thus making it possible to live up to our highest potential.

Welcome Wednesday!
Well, it's sure good to be back! I had hoped that the last few days would lift my spirits but sadly there were many difficult choices to make and all leave me a bit sad and somewhat defeated. I suppose I should explain for it weighs quite heavily in my mind but there was a choice made by someone very close to me that left me between a rock and a hard spot. I have healthy boundries for my children and I and unfortunately they were crossed but not without warning.
I felt that this person was like a sister to me because I was an only child and I cherished that dear friendship. I had to walk away from that friendship this last week and make great sacrifices that broke my heart. I sent my beloved cats away to live with my ex-husband and now I'm not sure if my eyes will ever be dry again. He is running my kittycam now and it will be back up in just a few days. I Could not allow her to bring a person into my home that would jeopardize the safety of my children and myself....I do not regret that decision.
I truly hope that this life treats her well and her mental outlook changes to a healthier one. I told her I harbor no grudges and someday i truly hope she can see clearly I did what I had to do, not out of spite but great love for her as a human being. I will go ahead with my life now a little sadder but a lot wiser I will be sending positive thoughts her way too.
Bright Blessings to all!

Tarot Tuesday

The age old expression "You reap what you sow..." is especially acurate when Nemesis appears in a reading. When I look at this card, karma often comes to mind as to how I may have arrived at the present situation. Choices always lead to either positive or negative results and keeping in mind enjoying positive results depends on wise choices... and is always an incentive.
When we find ourselves in a less desireable situation, it is also a wise not to react negatively or even fly off the handle since every action does indeed come back to us. The three-fold law reminds us that what we think, say or act upon does reflect back to us and I like to ponder what my intent or action might be reflecting back on me.
People all have the choice of free will and it is not my decision to make about what is in the best interests of others, no more than I like it if someone decides for me. We need to remember that balance and fairness is not our responsibility but that of the god or goddess, it would be terribly arrogant to assume that the universal mind needs any sort of assistance from little 'ole me

Heavy Loads

The Ten Of Wands is an interesting card, in it we see an over burdened little frog that looks as if he might be thinking that he bit off more than he could chew and is really struggling along. In the distance we can see a castle but it's unclear if he is heading toward or away from it's walls. The colors even bring to mind feelings of heaviness and drudgery and it reminds me that any action I undertake must be evaluated as to whether or not it might be just a little too much. Doing favors for people is something that causes most burdens in my life, it's difficult to see one in need and I feel like I ought to offer help but I try to keep in mind, is it really my burden to help carry or is it the results of that person's unwise choices. Life is hard enough and sometimes we just need to let others carry their own burdens.
